WELCOME TO AUTHOR DAVID LOHAN'S SITE.
Hello, I’m David Lohan. I am an author, engineer, and advocate for social justice and human dignity. I live in Ireland.
My work is driven by a desire to make sense of modern slavery and human trafficking — complex crimes that have been perpetrated time and time again against millions of real people with real lives. Through my writing, I strive to move beyond the statistics and policies to illuminate the human stories at the heart of these injustices.
I weave together the narratives of individuals, both past and present, to offer readers a deeper understanding of the systems that enable exploitation and the human resilience that endures despite it. My first book examines the coercive use of Juju, a spiritual belief system, in trapping people into slavery, shedding light on the manipulation of cultural practices for nefarious ends. My latest book, At Freedom’s Crossroads: Making Sense of Modern Slavery, takes a broader view, exploring the global scope and impact of slavery today.
With over 30 years of professional experience and 15 years dedicated to studying modern slavery and human trafficking, I bring a different perspective to these pressing global issues. By combining the analytical approach of an engineer, the critical insights of a Master of Arts in Politics, and decades of professional experience, I provide readers with clear, accessible, and thought-provoking perspectives on these issues. My aim is not only to raise awareness but also to inspire meaningful conversations and actions that challenge the systems of exploitation.
If you’re looking to truly understand modern slavery and human trafficking from a human-centered perspective — one that acknowledges the lived experiences of those exploited and the crimes committed against them — my work is for you. Together, we can uncover the realities of this global injustice and take steps toward a more just and equitable world.
